Juveniles are assigned community work hours by their probation or diversion officers.  The community work hour coordinator schedules and oversees the implementation of Court ordered community work hours for these probationers.  The juveniles are assigned to volunteer at some of the following locations: schools, churches, parks, townships, cities or villages, libraries, nursing homes, the senior citizen center, PICCA and YMCA.  There are also times when hours are worked at other agencies or functions such as the Fairgrounds and Pumpkin Show.

The Community Work Hour Coordinator serves as a liaison between the juveniles, the place of assignment of work hours and probation department by monitoring behavior, reliability and work ethic of the youth.

Summer Litter Crew is also a possible assignment for community work hours.  The juveniles serve their hours by collecting litter along the county and townships during the summer months.  These juveniles are supervised and kept safe by the Community Work Hour Coordinator and his assistant.
